Try one of these skillet recipes next time you’re without a dinner plan.

Nothing can do it like the cast iron can! These recipes crown the skillet as the summer dinner hero.

To honor the cast iron, recipe creator Sarah Alvord shared three recipes that let the skillet shine. She is a big advocate of the cast iron skillet. It’s efficient, lasts forever, and makes dinner a breeze.

 

Burrito Bowls

These burrito bowls are loaded with flavor! It’s a dump and cook dinner. Add all ingredients (including the uncooked rice!) into the skillet, and let it cook through.

Scoop a portion into a bowl and add your favorite taco fixings: lettuce, cheese, avocado, sour cream, cilantro, and salsa.

Chicken Stir Fry

This recipe is a hands-down dinner winner. It’s easy to whip up, and loaded with veggies and chicken.

The sauce brings it all together. It’s made of simple pantry staples, but really packs in the flavor.

Creamy Gnocchi and Italian Sausage

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage mild
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cans Italian dice tomatoes 14.5 ounce cans
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 pound potato gnocchi uncooked
  • 2 cups spinach fresh
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • fresh basil optional

METHOD

  1. Add olive oil to a large skillet over medium high heat. Brown sausage and onion in the pan until the cook through
  2. Add in the garlic, salt and pepper and cook and stir for 30 seconds
  3. Pour in the cans of tomatoes, cream and water. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally
  4. Add in the gnocchi and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender
  5. Add in the spinach and cook for 1 minute, until the spinach is wilted and mixed it
  6. Stir in the parmesan cheese, fresh basil and serve.
