You can make this breakfast pizza ahead!
Make pizza for breakfast! It’s sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, and cheese loaded up on a super-simple crescent dough crust.
Leigh Anne Wilkes says it makes for the perfect sheet pan Christmas breakfast. This is her favorite Christmas breakfast tradition. She grew up eating it every Christmas as a girl, and has now passed the tradition on to her family!
The recipe can be adjusted to fit however many people you’re feeding—just halve or double the ingredients. It all comes together on a single sheet pan, which makes it easy to prepare and clean up afterward.
To make the process even simpler, you can brown the sausage and shred the cheese the night before Christmas. That way, all you have to do in the morning is assemble your breakfast pizza, pop it in the oven, and you’re good to go. It cooks while you’re enjoying time with your family and unwrapping presents, and by the time you’re ready to sit down, breakfast is ready!
Breakfast Pizza
8 servings
Prep: 30 minutes
Cook: 30 minutes
Total: 1 hour
INGREDIENTS
- 1 16 oz. Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage (Comes in a roll!)
- 2 8 oz. Crescent Rolls
- 1 cup hash brown potatoes (Leigh Anne uses frozen ones and lets them thaw in the fridge before making)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 5 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese (Leigh Anne uses the Kraft brand)
METHOD
- Cook sausage until well browned, drain fat. Break it up as you cook it so it is like ground sausage.
- Press crescent roll dough into a 12″ x 17″ cookie sheet or an ungreased 12 inch round pizza pan with points toward the center. Press over bottom and up sides to form a crust; seal perforations (important) Spoon sausage over the crust.
- Sprinkle with potatoes and top with cheddar cheese. (You can make it to this point the night ahead of time, cover with plastic and refrigerate)
- In a bowl beat together eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
- Pour over crust in the middle – it will seep out to the edges on its own. If you pour it near the edges it may overflow.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese over all.
- Bake at 375 oven for 25-30 minutes.
Note:
If making a smaller batch, use one roll of crescent dough, 1/2 package of sausage and three eggs. Keep the rest of the ingredients the same.
